Abstract: | Exploration conducted included diamond gravel, loam, stream sediment, soil and rock grab sampling, soil auger and RAB drilling, an aeromagnetic interpretation and geological mapping. Sixteen chromite grains were obtained from a catchment draining from the north of the licence area. Follow up work obtained two microdiamonds from the chromite anomaly. Stream sediment sampling indicated anomaly with the maximum values of zinc up to 240 ppm and lead up to 140 ppm. Soil sampling above dolerite sills showed only sporadic elevated zinc and copper values. Gravel sampling failed to identify significant diamond indicator or base metal anomalies. RAB drilling identified only sporadic elevated metals in samples, to maximum values of 805 ppm Zn, 230 ppm Pb, 92 ppm Cu and 7 ppm Ag. Stream sediment, soil, rock grab and RAB samples provide no leads toward significant base metal mineralisation. |
