Abstract: | Possible kimberlitic indicators were identified from all of the licence areas sampled in 1989. These anomalous results were followed up in the 1990 field season by heavy mineral stream and loam sampling, as well as limited rock sampling. Accompanying geochemical samples were also collected. Results are included in CR 1992-0179, because they were outstanding at the time of reporting. Reconnaissance stream and loam sampling was completed over ELs 6286-6290, and parts of ELs 6291 and 6294. Accompanying geochemical samples were also collected. The geochemical investigation has defined 8 low priority, base metal anomalous zones in the Urapunga map sheet area. Four aeromagnetic surveys were flown to include catchments and surrounding areas over which scattered kimberlitic indicators were recovered from reconnaissance samples in 1989. 54 anomalies were selected, which were in turn followed up by ground magnetic surveys, geological mapping, and check sampling. Seven aeromagnetic anomalies within EL 6292, which were confirmed by follow up ground magnetics were drilled. No kimberlitic material was intersected in any of the drill holes. In addition 3 short auger holes were drilled over anomaly RV1. Alluvium and clay were intersected along each hole, and 2 kimberlitic garnets were recovered from one hole. |
