Abstract: | 272 vacuum drill holes were drilled in the vicinity of the Orlando Mine. They outlined 2 zones of copper anomalism which appeared to be eastern extensions of the Orlando Shear Structure. These anomalies were followed up by broadly spaced RC drilling, rock chip sampling and structural mapping. The structural mapping programme outline several areas of intense deformation relating to multiple episodes of thrusting south over north and sinistral wrench shear movement. The relationship of mineralisation to this structural regime is not fully understood. Areas of dilation appear to be attractive sites for concentration of ore forming fluids. 52 rock chip-channel samples were taken. The best result being 1.5ppm Au from near the Olive Wood Mine, with other elevated values clustered near a group of shallow workings to the east representing a strike extension of known mineralisation. Results from the 3 RC percussion drill holes following up the anomalies highlighted by vacuum drilling were generally disappointing. |
