Abstract: The main target for exploration on the EL 3347 is unconformity style uranium deposits. Steven's anomaly previously located, was gridded and a ground radiometric survey completed. The geological mapping and ground radiometrics confirmed that the radioactive anomaly is confined to the dolerite close to its faulted contact with the Mamadawerre sandstone. A grab sample collected at the anomaly gave a maximum radioactivity of 8000 c/s SPP2 showed yellow uranium oxides in a clay and specular hematite matrix. This sample assayed 3.96% Pb and 2.2% P2O5. Five diamond drill holes were completed during the 1998 field season. All were collared in the Kombalgie Formation and terminated in the Nimbawah Complex. Detailed geological logs and petrographic analysis on selected drill core samples was completed. sandstone geochemistry was used to detect any U or trace alements within the sandstone. The best U result was from hole KBW 4 at the 72.85m interval, which assayed 174ppm U. XRD studies were used to determine the mineral abundances in the drill holes, and PIMA analysis was used to identify possible alteration clay minerals in sandstone. Finally down hole logging was conducted with an Auslog probing unit and natural gamma probe. Downhole probing outline 270 c/s at 73.3 m in hole KBW 4.
