Abstract: | No field work was carried out on MCN 4594 during 1994. However evaluation of the sample material continued and a product which was acceptable to the market was eventually produced by selective sorting and knapping of the better quality material. The viability of the deposit will depend on whether sufficient quantities of the better quality amethyst can be mined. The cost of upgrading the amethystine material by discarding the white and colourless material and the crystal with iron oxide infillings along cracks, is too high when applied to the sample obtained. In 1995, an attempt will be made to obtain a sample of higher grade material. If washing and sorting could be carried out at the mine site, this would cut the costs substantially and is dependant on the availability of sufficient water. Washing equipment has been obtained. This title is held to search for for amethyst. No field work was undertaken during 1994. |
