Abstract: EL 1921 consists of six blocks which occur on the Katherine 1:100 000 scale map sheet of the Katherine 1:250 000 scale map sheet 1. The licence extends some six kilometres south from Cannyes Hill on the eastern side of the Stuart Highway. A tributary of the Edith River flows north through the licence area and the road to Edith Falls cuts across the northern portion of the licence. The licence was taken up to investigate any gold or base metal occurrences in the area that may be associated with the Early Proterozoic metasediments and granites in the area. A total of 31 stream sediment and three rock chip samples were taken. These were analysed for gold, copper, lead, zinc, arsenic, tin and tungsten. The results for all the analyses have proved dissapointing. No anamalous or elevated levels were Identified, however the results over the leucogranite were higher than those over the Tollis Formation. Although the sampling results are disappointing, it is worth completing the exploration programme to ensure all aspects of the geology (and mineralization) within the exploration licence are understood.
