Abstract: | The prospect consists of an exploration license totalling some 400 sq.km. located on the Alice Springs 1:250,000 sheet area in the Northern Territory. Several late Proterozoic age intrusive bodies of ultrabasic-basic rocks occur in domal dioritic igneous complexes on the license area. These are thought to have a good theoretical potential for PGE mineralization. These ultrabasic-basic intrusives have strong petrographic and structural similarities to the nearby Mordor Igneous Complex. This layered pyroxenite ultrabasic suite is thought by the NTGS to have PGM potential because of (a) high background platinum values (from reassay of old Ni-Cu-Cr diamond core) of 0.1 g/t and (b) BHP diamond exploration proving anomalous platinum values in creeks draining from the complex. The prospect is considered to have an excellent potential for PGM mineralization. An exploration commitment of A$20,000 has been made to the NT government. The license is granted for six years with annual renewal dependant upon satisfactory exploration and expenditure. |
