Title: | Annual report ERL 71 Fletchers Gully for 1987 to 1988 |
Title Holder / Company: | JLV Constructions |
Report id: | CR1988-0254 |
Tenure: | ERL71 |
Year: | 1988 |
Abstract: | ERL 71 was granted on 29 May 1987 to enable further exploration and proving of the Fletchers Gully area formerly held under EL 4042. As the prospective zone around the old workings straddled two blocks of EL 4042, and one block was due to be relinquished, the ERL of 120 Ha was applied for, and the EL was relinquished. Worked carried out in 1987-1988 was a follow up to the surface sampling and induced polarization survey previously carried out. Based on the IP survey, Staples Geophysical Services recommended the drilling of six bore holes to test IP prospective zones indicated by IP anomalies. P Staples of Staples Geophysical Services visited the ERL in October 1987 and selected locations for six drill holes. These locations were selected to site the bore holes as favourably as possible, consistant with the difficulties of access in the steep terrain. An International TD28 Bulldozer was floated to the ERL from Pine Creek, and access tracks were constructed to the selected sites where drilling pads were formed. The TD28 was also used for improving access generally in the area and to excavate two costeans. Due to the level of drilling activity, it was not possible to obtain a drill rig before the onset of the wet season, and the proposed drilling was postponed to the following dry season. Because of the restricted access to the site and the delays caused through inability to drill as originally planned, additional site visits and assessments were made by our Darwin Office Representative. |
