Abstract: | These 3 Mineral Leases are situated in the South Alligator River Valley area, about ten kilometres east-north-east of Coronation Hill. Exploration completed to date within the leases has consisted of geological mapping, sampling and a Self Potential Survey. The sampling results show several zones with anomalous gold values. These values are found in soil & dolerite scree overlying boulders of dolerite. Joints infilled with veins may be carrying gold and diamond drilling is the best exploration tool at this stage to sample the fresh rock below the anomalous results at the surface. The Self Potential Survey gave anomalous results over one gold anomalous zone, as well as outlining a zone overlying an area of very little outcrop, just outside the Mineral Lease boundaries. An access road to the Mineral Leases is needed to enable a drilling programme to be carried out. As the Commonwealth Government has gazetted a Conservation Area Exploratory Zone covering this area, their approval to build the road is mandatory. A formal proposal was submitted on the 15th of July 1987. About ten diamond drill holes are proposed aggregating 1500m in total. |
