Abstract: | Previous exploration under the present title has been carried out by W.J and E.E. Fisher and has concentrated on the substantial aeromagnetic anomaly located in the central north of the area. A 50% reduction in the area of the title is required to be made by 19 June, 1987. In order to provide information to select blocks for relinquishment a programme of stream sediment geochemistry (bulk leach gold) was carried out to outline any areas within the title with the potential to contain significant gold mineralisation. Additionally, areas of alteration and mineralisation located during the field programme were systematically rock chip sampled and assayed for gold. The results of the bulk leach sampling programme have outlined two areas of significantly higher cyanide extractable gold. The strongest and best defined cyanide extractable gold anomaly is located in the northwest of the title area over a number of discreet topographic features in rocks of the South Alligator Group. No ground traversing has been carried out in the area which represents a priority area for systematic follow up work. A second, single station, cyanide extractable gold anomaly is located in the south of the title area down drainage from a roof pendant of sediments and andesitic volcanics. Part of the outcrop area was reconnaissance sampled with negative results but more work is justified to investigate the source of the cyanide extractable gold anomaly. Several areas of significantly altered, silicified, and quartz veined material were found in the area but no anomalous gold or arsenic values were obtained from the rock chip samples collected. No cyanide extractable gold anomalies were associated with the altered areas. |
