Abstract: | Auger drilling was carried out on a survey grid of 100 metre- centre. Most of the samples were collected from B soil horizon. Samples were analysed for gold and arsenic contents by Analabs. A mean background and threshold arsenic values were estimated by calculation ( mean background value: 18.4 ppm and threshold value: 58.5 ppm ). A zone of arsenic anomaly was located and was correlative with gold anomaly. The zone lies on the fold axis of an anticline plunging south. To the west of Mt Bundey Creek, a slight amount of gold was detected at the sites drilled. This gold anomaly is not correlative with arsenic anomaly. The work conducted has defined a zone being of interest for further exploration for hard-rock gold deposits. Additional auger drilling is recommended on a grid of more closer spacing cover this zone. Before drilling, access should be prepared to each drill site. For alluvial gold deposits, the area to the west of Mt Bundey Creek is worth testing. Such tests might involve a bulk sampling and testing plant and earth-moving equipments. The method of investigation conducted is not effective to prove an alluvial gold deposit. |
