Title: First (and final) annual report, EL 2597 Hayes Creek
Title Holder / Company: Not Given
Report id: CR1982-0307
Tenure: EL2597
Year: 1982
Author: Evans, PR
Abstract: The area three kilometres southeast of Hayes Creek has been mined for both reef and alluvial tin. The area contains numerous old shafts, drives and adits; all of which appear to have removed the easily won ore. Deeper ore would be too low grade and too costly to extract even with modern techniques. The terrain in the licence suggested minimal alluvial potential at best. Investigation focused on a spur of quartz reefs in the west of the licence were there are numerous old gougings. Field grab sampling, panning and costeaning were conducted. It was concluded that the area was not considered economic for redevelopment.
