Title: Progress Report for Quarter Ended 20th December 1972 EL 598 Barney Hill
Title Holder / Company: Carpentaria Exploration Company
Report id: CR1973-0012
Tenure: EL598
Year: 1973
Abstract: Report outlines work done during the first quarter of EL598, plus work done on the preceding AP3319, and may also contain work on adjoining EL597. Soil sampling gave high Pb values north of Reward Prospect, which coincide with reported Pb mineralisation. No high Cu values were obtained from soil sampling at Wickens Hill, but some anomalous Pb and Zn values were obtained. Drilling at Buffalo Lagoon did not find an up-dip extension of mineralisation found in Buffalo No.1. Two holes drilled at Ridge II was done as part of re-evaluation of the prospect. Results from 2 holes drilled at Cooley 1 (Xe'119 and Be' 120) will be included in a separate report on Cooley mineralisation. Emu No.3 intersected Basal Dolomite Breccia and Basal Shales. 1:5000 mapping of the areas around HYC, Barney Hill and Cooley did not change the overall geological and structural picture, but some stratigraphy is in doubt at Cooley (Mara and Mitchell Yard Members).
