Year: | 1991 |
Abstract: | A review of available data on the tenement led to the selection of Area 55, for detailed work. In the first year of tenure this consisted of a drilling programme: Diamond Hole 55-1 encountered secondary Cu-Pb mineralization from the surface down to 90m, 55-2 intersected secondary base metal mineralization from 21-125m, 55-3 intersected primary base metal mineralization at depth, 55-3a intersected two narrow zones of base metal sulphides from 111-113.6 (max 7.41% Pb; 2.05% Zn; 1.06% Cu) and 124-126m (max 4.46% Pb; 1.38% Zn and 0.59% Cu) and 55-5 returned significant Au-Pb-Co and Ni assays over the 59-75m interval (max 2.02% Cu; 3.26% Pb and 0.9% Zn). The RAB programme to the North and North East of the prospect was designed to help elucidate the sub-surface geology. Hole 8 returned a bolt assay of 6.09% Pb. RAB drilling is recommended for the area West of the Rum Jungle South Mine. Additional drilling of Area 55 is also to be undertaken. |
