Abstract: | Exploration activities carried out to 21 August 1987 were reported in the annual report to the Mines Department for that period. This work included the establishment of a grid, and rock and soil sampling, the results of which indicated that anomalous gold, silver and lead existed on the property. Dr. K.M. Chan was then retained to conduct geological mapping and further sampling with the view to prepare for an initial stage of drilling to test the anomalies. Dr. Chan completed the mapping and upon recommendation of drillsite location, supervised the location of drillpads. A Freeport geologist, Mr. J. Puce, supervised the drilling itself. Seven holes were drilled for a total of 354 metres and the samples were assayed for gold, lead, silver and arsenic. The results of this initial drilling program were quite discouraging, with no economic widths of grades being intercepted. |
