Abstract: Exploration in EL 4877 was undertaken during July 1987. This was executed concurrently with a general reconnaissance survey of other Mineral Horizons tenements in the area. Additional sampling was conducted during November 1987 in conjunction with an investigation of the Kurinelli area. Two groups of old workings (known as Alfred's North and South) comprising shallow trenches and pits were sampled to test the grade of gold mineralization in the lodes. Assay results indicated that the tenor of the small quartz lodes is low. Out of 10 samples assayed, only one sample returned a value higher than 1 g/t. The average grade of samples from Alfred's North was 0.17 g/t (highest - 0.49 g/t), and the average grade of the samples taken from Alfred's South was 0.93 g/t (highest 2.42 g/t). The area forms part of the Kurinelli mineralized zone and therefore potential exists for any future production to be combined with work in the Kurinelli area if grades there are viable. EL 4877 has the potential for small volumes of low grade gold ore which may be intermittently of high grade in localized pods. As the licence area is mostly covered with recent alluvium and soil, the potential for alluvial concentrations exists and this should be investigated in conjunction with the adjacent Kurinelli prospects in future assessments.
