Abstract: | EL 4226 Is located approximately 40km southeast of Adelaide River. The one graticular block covers the central part of the Howley Ridge immediately to the north of Big (Metropolitan) Rowley. Work completed for the year ended 25 May 1986 by Northern Gold consisted of reconnaissance, geological mapping, aerial geophysics and drilling. Twenty reverse circulation holes were drilled for a total of 1967m. Northern Gold expenditure on EL 4226 on hardrock exploration for the 12 months was $175 980. The planned work programme for the following 12 months of tenure includes appraisal of results to date with an allowance for a further 400m of reverse circulation drilling. Proposed expenditure for this period is $33 000. Drilling results indicate widespread anomalous gold values through the entire E.L. Numerous intersections average 0.5g/t or better over tens of metres. Very few values greater than 2g/t were received. The highest grade returned was 17.75g/t in CH16 from 60-61m. The highly anomalous gold values and its widespread occurrence throughout the EL indicates that the ore forming processes existed but a suitable concentrating structure or other feature has not been located. Further work is warranted to investigate structural features along the Howley Ridge. A limited amount of drilling will be used to follow up previous results. |
