Abstract: EL 4226 is located approximately 40 km southeast of Adelaide River and covers the central part of the Howley Ridge immediately to the north of Big (Metropolitan) Howley. Work completed for the year ended 24 May 1987, consisted of reappraisal of existing information, panned concentrate sampling and air photograph and geomorphological work. This suggests that the area has potential for high grade low volume alluvial gravels. Metana's exploration to 20 February 1987 was $3 660, with a planned expenditure to 19 February 1988 of a further $3 330.
Northern Gold NL's planned work programme and expenditure on this area to 24 May 1988 is expected to be in excess of $25 000. Previous exploration work has been directed to location and evaluation of alluvial gold deposits on this Exploration Licence.
Air photos and geomorphological work suggests that high grade low volume gravels probably characterise the area. Insufficient work has been undertaken to give a proper assessment of the hardrock potential of the area.
