Abstract: | Four areas of encouraging gold mineralisation identified by previous costean sampling and diamond drilling were tested with a short programme of percussion drilling totalling 330 metres. The drilling indicated that the sporadic gold values intersected in the drillholes were related to zones of quartz which it was presumed were consistent with the presence of a number of individual narrow veins as observed in the. nearby costeans. Generally low to moderate grades of mineralisation ranged between 1.06 and 5.78 g/t Au. It was concluded that the drilling failed to sustain or upgrade at depth either the encouraging grades or widths of mineralisation intersected in the costeans nor did it identify additional zones of gold quartz mineralisation not previously highlighted by the costean sampling. |
