Abstract: During 1985, the exploration program focused on the abandoned Woolwonga gold workings immediately south (500 metres) of the EL. The Woolwonga workings are covered by a group of 9 claims and leases held by Australian Coal and Gold. These leases were optioned by the Golden Dyke Joint Venture In August 1984. An exploration program comprising diamond drilling was undertaken on the optioned AC&G ground. Reconnaissance traverses following the abandoned Woolwonga workings north into EL 4441, and of the eastern Burrell Creek Formation outcrops were made. It was necessary to complete evaluation of the Woolwonga workings in order to determine the controls on mineralisation and hence plan evaluation of the strike continuation of the Woolwonga anticline northwards into EL 4441. Reconnaissance within blocks 64/15 and 65/15 indicated the presence of massive unveined 'tombstone' greywacke outcropping through extensive alluvial cover. These two blocks will be surrendered to achieve the required 50% reduction of EL 4441.
