Title: | Annual Report for EL 1302 Cassidy Bore. |
Title Holder / Company: | AGIP Australia |
Report id: | CR1978-0070 |
Tenure: | EL1302 |
Year: | 1978 |
Abstract: | Thirty drill holes totaling 2,910 metres were drilled during 1977 on E.L. 1302 Cassidy Bore. Holes were geophysically logged for a total of 2,460 metres. Tertiary cover has been found to be more extensive than previously known, and is of variable thickness from 0 to greater than 125 metres. These sediments form part of the Currinya Basin. Arkosic channel sands are occasionally abundant, but reduzate facies have not been recognised. As far as is known the Mt Eclipse Formation underlies the Tertiary everywhere within the EL and favourable facies for, mineralization has been found in about 50% of the holes drilled. About 10% of the holes drilled show some slight anomalous radioactivity. Proposed work consists of further stratigraphic drilling in parts of the EL where information is scarce or lacking, and some follow up drilling to determine the extent of favourable facies and mineralization found during 1977. |
