Abstract: The basic aims of the 1974 field season were to evaluate the possibility of uranium mineralisation masked by surface cover and to investigate in detail the anomalous uranium value mentioned above. It was intended to map in detail the entire area and to carry out more intensive rock chip sampling. Auger traverses combined with Track Etch radon studies were to be carried out across the main interfluves. The area around the anomalous rock chip was to be gridded and mapped in detail and if necessary drilled. In the event, highly anomalous base metal and gold/silver values were discovered in a siliceous surface gossan during the early stages of the gridding. The down dip extension of the gossan was investigated in detail by geophysical surveys, costeaning and diamond drilling. A successful search for further gossans along the projected line of strike was carried out. Anomalous lead values detected in earlier stream sediment surveys proved to be significant.
