Title: | Annual report EL 245 for year ending 31-12-1973 |
Title Holder / Company: | Queensland Mines |
Report id: | CR1974-0052 |
Tenure: | EL245 |
Year: | 1974 |
Abstract: | The regional aspect of the exploration progranune included the compilation of new geological base maps of the entire licence area; geological photo mapping of numerous and substantial areas; stream sediment sampling of the drainage over the entire area not covered by Kombolgie sandstone. The detailed and semi-regional work performed was, mainly restricted to those areas not covered by Kombolgie sandstone. This work involved the surveying of baselines and pegging of numerous grids. These gridded areas provided the basis for control of the work that followed which involved detailed geological mapping, soil sampling (geochemistry), radiometric surveying and other geophysical techniques. The basis for selection of areas gridded was : (1) the presence of an airborne radiometric anomaly and/or (2) favourable geological settings identified from regional geology maps and/or (3) the presence,of anomalous values detected in the course of the regional stream geochemical work and/or (4) extensions etc of areas of interest defined by work carried out in previous years. The 1973 work programme was heavily manpower oriented because of the nature of the work and the large aerial extent of the exploration programme. Only one drill hole was put down during the year, depth 185 metres. |
