Abstract

In the first year 105 heavy mineral stream sediment samples were collected, with two samples containing a diamond, and 21 samples contained chromite. This was followed up with an additional 80 stream sediment samples collected, a diamond was recovered in the same area as previously and 22 samples contained chromites. This was followed up with second phase stream sediment sampling, loam sampling and the collection of 3 rock samples. Results of this latter programme did not recover any further diamonds, and the chromites were considered to be non kimberlitic. Geological traversing located a pebbly conglomerate and it is summarised that this could be the source for the diamonds. A further 11 stream samples were collected with negative results. An aeromagnetic survey was flown over 2 areas within the licence, which indicated 8 anomalies and were field inspected and sampled with negative results.
