Title: Exploration Licence No. 8585 Overturned, Northern Territory third and final annual report for year ended 20th May 1997
Title Holder / Company: Carpentaria Gold
Report id: CR1997-0114
Tenure: EL8585
Year: 1997
Author: Hinde, JS
Abstract: In year one of tenure MIM Exploration carried out rock chip sampling of the Burrell Creek Formation and Mount Bonnie Formation. Sampling of the numerous quartz reefs defined moderately high gold anomalism up to 5.3g-t Au, and anomalous copper, silver and arsenic to values of 36.6% Cu, 698-8ppm Ag and 14% As respectively. Geological mapping of the licence defined two NNE plunging anticlines with cores of Mount Bonnie Formation. The Western most anticline appeared to have an overturned and faulted nose. Two quartz breccia zones and arsenic-bearing haematitic quartz reefs and veins were delineated within the Burrell Creek Formation and Mount Bonnie Formations. A helimag survey defined tight folding within the Burrell Creek Formation. Small localised bullseye anomalies correspond approximately to mapped exposures of Mount Bonnie Formation.
Year 2 saw regional interpretation of the helimag data on ER Mapper for all of the MIM Exploration tenements in the area around EL8585. No on ground work was carried out due to changes in personnel.
In year 3 more rock chip sampling was undertaken in conjunction with interesting sampling results in adjacent licences. MIM has relinquished the licence.
