Abstract: | Central Electricity Generating Board Exploration (Australia) Pty Limited has been exploring in the Rum Jungle region, primarily for uranium, since early 1986. This report summarises the results of exploration carried out on ground relinquished from EL 4879 at the end of the fourth year of tenure. Most of the investigations carried out on this Exploration Licence relate to areas which have been retained. However some regional stream sediment surveying and follow up was completed within the area relinquished. No results published. In early 1989 a helicopter assisted regional stream sediment survey was carried out over much of the area relinquished. This involved the collection of large samples (5 kg) which were subsequently assayed for gold using the BLEG technique. Limited follow up at the site of one of the BLEG anomalies in August 1989 concluded that previous 'trap' had been washed away by flooding therefore making repeat sampling impossible. As it was not possible to verify the original BLEG anomaly, exploration concentrated on the base metal potential of this Exploration Licence. |
