Third Annual Report for EL 9219 (Wapiti) for the period 21 November 1997 to 20 November 1998 Barrow Creek District Northern Territory

Abstract

The area covered by the Barrow Creek Project, located approximately 200km south of Tennant Creek, is being explored for economic gold mineralisation. This report describes the exploration activity and results obtained from EL 9219 during the third year of tenure to 21 November 1998. In this time, a joint venture agreement between Normandy Gold Pty Ltd and Normandy NFM Ltd was formed consolidating all exploration tenements in the Tanami-Arunta region, including the existing Barrow Creek Project area. As a result of this agreement, exploration of the JV properties is now managed by Normandy NFM Ltd. Handover of tenement management caused some disruption to planned field programmes, and as a result, fieldwork was restricted to a reconnaissance RAB drilling programme and the collection of 77 rock chip samples. A total of 36 holes for 896m were completed and the resultant 118 samples are currently being analysed for low level gold and arsenic as well as for selected base metals. A rigorous examination and review of previous exploration data was also undertaken in conjunction with a similar process for all other Barrow Creek Project exploration licences. As the results of the drilling programme have not yet been received, work proposed for the upcoming year of tenure will include the analysis of geochemical data from this programme as well as probable follow-up drilling based on these results.
