Abstract: | Ongoing exploration for kimberlitic pipes continued and comprised of vegetation, soil, rock chip and drill spoil sampling. ICPM analysis of the vegetation samples indicate that spinifex has anomalous concentrations of certain elements over kimberlites and include:- Cerium, Cobalt, Erbium, Gadolinium, Gallium, Lanthanium, Molybdenium, Niobium, Praseodymium, Thorium, Titanium and Thulium. Enzyme leach analysis of soil samples over 2 known kimberlitic pipes show definitive lows for both base metals and certain rare earth elements. Two high resolution seismic lines were recorded, one line was positioned over the Bedevere pipe and the other over the Kay and Echo pipes. The seismic refraction indicated the pipe location whilst the seismic reflections were unsuccessful due to dry ground conditions. Down hole seismic evaluation of the Excalibur pipe showed that reflections delineate the pipe sides between 80 to 175m depth. Heavy mineral analysis of drill spoil sampling indicated the presence of one chromite grain from the previous years sampling. Eight water bores were drilled and 125 sterilisation holes were drilled and in addition a 65km road is being constructed to the Carpentaria highway. |
