Title: | Report on Exploration within PA 3319 Carpentaria NT, year ending 31-12-71. |
Title Holder / Company: | Carpentaria Exploration Company |
Report id: | CR1972-0015 |
Tenure: | AP3319 |
Year: | 1972 |

Abstract: | This report is a compilation of the extensive work undertaken on AP 3319 during the 1971 field season. Drilling was conducted at Cooley I and III. Holes from Cooley II were assayed. Ridge II was drilled, surface geochem was conducted and IP at Tawallah Pocket and Scrutton Creek. The Great Scott anomaly was traced to minor visible galena at surface. IP showed little promise at depth. A geochemical anomaly at Leila Creek was found to be over Leila Sandstone and thought to be of no significance. Geochemical anomalies at Top Springs were traced to galena in the Tooganinine Formation. The Bulburra Depression and Buffalo Lagoon soil sampling and IP gave some leads. An IP anomaly at Coxco warrants further work. Galena in the Cooley Member was thought to be the source of the anomaly at Amelia. This report contains numerous maps and plans of rock chip, soil and stream sediment geochemistry, and ground IP and resistivity surveys carried out for base metals exploration. Many of the maps do not have accompanying locality diagrams. Some figures are missing from the copies supplied by the Company. All work was on a local grid. The report text is in Volume F. |
