Abstract: | During the 1995/96 year of tenure Northern Gold completed an exploration programme consisting of GIS and remote sensing data manipulation, geological mapping and regional RAB drilling. Interpretation of the GIS and remote sensing imagery shows anticlinal structures trending north-west to south-east through the tenement. Along the anticlinal fold axis, extensive outcrops of Zamu Dolerite are present, bounded by the subcropping Koolpin Formation and the Mount Bonnie Formation. 105 RAB holes were completed targeting regional soil gold anomalies and testing for strike extensions of high grade soil anomalies. The results were encouraging with seven holes reporting intersections above 1g/t Au. These results confirmed the N-NW trending soil anomaly identified in the eastern region of the tenement in the 1994/95 infill soil sampling programme. The peak results from the drilling programme range from 102ppb Au to 632ppb Au. |
