Abstract: | The pegging of MCN 3243 followed the discovery of gold values during an exploration programme of EL 5065. Geological mapping revealed a tight anticline with a southerly pitch. Grid based BLEG sampling and rock chip sampling (mainly along the anticline axis) revealed 3 main areas of anomalous gold (peak values include 128 g/t and 170 g/t). Diamond drilling proves the downward extension of the mineralised saddle reef(s). Seismic refraction methods were also used in an effort to map Early Proterozoic rocks beneath a cover of cemented scree on a steep slope over which a Bleg anomaly had been located. |
