Abstract: Central Electricity Generating Board Exploration (Australia) Pty Ltd has been exploring in the Rum Jungle region, primarily for uranium, since early 1986. This report summarises the results of exploration carried out on ground relinquished from EL 4879 at the end of the third year of tenure. Detailed investigations carried out by CEGBEA relate to areas retained within EL 4879 for the fourth year of tenure. A regional stream-sediment survey, however included at least a part of the relinquished ground. Sample locations and geochemical results are shown on accompanying plans at a scale of 1:50,000. Stream sediment samples were collected during the first months of 1989 while creeks were flowing. Access to sample sites was by Bell Jetranger helicopter, contracted from West Coast Helicopters Darwin branch. At each site a 5kg sample of wet-sieved (-20 mesh or -1mm) sand was collected from the active stream channel for analysis by the BLEG technique. A heavy mineral concentrate was panned from nearby trap sites for gold analysis by AAS. Analytical work was carried out by Australian Assay Laboratories (AAL) of Townsville, Queensland. Results in relinquished areas were low.
