Abstract: EL 4935 was held to search for an economically viable gypsum deposit. Attention had focused in the vicinity of Lake Sylvester and along Brunette Creek near Brunette Downs Station. Gypsum had been located in creek beds, creek banks on the lake floor and during excavation of a dam sunk into the floor of Lake Sylvester. Gypsum is found as crystals and layers in and under the black soil. Four samples were assayed and found to be up to 98.38% gypsum. Further work is needed to determine the thickness and extent of the discoveries.
