Abstract: During the period 27th July, 1979 to 26th July, 1980, the Bauhinia Joint Venture carried out geological mapping geochemical sampling and a gravity survey in the Myrtle Area and a detailed basin study and regional gravity survey in the Amelia Basin. In the Myrtle Basin study, although some encouraging results, including Bouguer anomalies on Line 3 S were obtained within EL 1815, the most promising areas were located further to the south, in EL 1203. The detailed basin study indicated the presence of HYC Pyritic Shale within the Amelia Basin with a thickness in excess of 100 metres. Preliminary inspection of the Bouguer anomaly profiles from the regional gravity survey shows no significant anomalies for this area. However, a detailed interpretation of the results is presently being carried out.Several anomalous lead and zinc values assayed in Barney Creek Formation in Myrtle Basin. Office assessment of Amelia Basin based on BMR regional geophysical survey data and previous geophysical and drilling data from Carpentaria Exploration Co.
