Title: | Exploration on AP 983 Carpentaria area during 1962 |
Title Holder / Company: | Carpentaria Exploration Company |
Report id: | CR1963-0004 |
Tenure: | AP983 |
Year: | 1963 |
Abstract: | Object of the title is to test and explore for economic mineral deposits in the Carpentaria AP 983. 1 Limmen Area (No 1) This area was prospected by a four man prospecting party under L Znebejanek. No mineralization of economic significance was located. 2 Rosie Creek Area (No.2) This area was also covered by L Znebejanek's party and no significant mineralization was located. The Tawallah copper prospect was tested by one diamond drill hole which indicated only 56.25 feet of 0.3% Cu. 3 McArthur Area (No.3) Diamond drilling was continued on the HYC prospect, the holes have increased the probable ore reserves to 103,651,774 tone of ore averaging 1.48 oz Ag, 4.19% Pb and. 9.31% Zn. Johnston's prospect was tested by one diamond drill hole which intersected 24.25 feet of 1.3% Pb. Prospecting was done in the Bauhinia Downs Area. 4 Border Area (No.4) Prospecting was done in this area by a four man prospecting party under F Vomacka. This party prospected the area south of Wollogorang Homestead drained by Central Branch and Settlement creeks. Although numerous prospects were located in the Peters Creek volcanics none warrant further investigation. Conclusions; 1. Areas 1, 2 and the eastern part of No 4 have been completely prospected and no mineralization was found warranting further interest. 2. That diamond drill holes Cl and Ve7 at the HYC may not have been drilled deep enough. 3. The Pawa1la copper prospect is small and low grade and there are no evident possibilities for extensions. 4. Johnston's prospect is too low grade and too small. Recommendations; 1. That the area of the Authority to Prospect be reduced as shown in the accompanying plan. 2. That HYC diamond drill hole Cl be deepened and subsequently Ye7 depending on the results of Cl. 3. That no further work be done on Johnston's or Tawalla prospects. 4. That prospecting be continued in the McArthur River area to delineate the areas of occurrence of the Barney member in order to reduce the size of the Authority to Prospect. 5. That a plane table geological and topographical map of the HYC deposit and environs be made on a scale of 200 feet to one inch. 6. That the exposures of the Masterton Formation and Wollogorang Formation north of Wollogorang Homestead be prospected in detail. |
