Abstract: | A previously reported anomalous stream sample was followed up by 3 stream and 2 loam samples of which four samples contained chromites, with one sample containing 133 chromite grams. Four loam samples were collected in this area with all samples being positive for chromite and one containing a micro diamond. Two samples contained 55 and 29 chromites suggesting a primary source close to the sample locations. A detailed aeromagnetic survey was completed over the anomalous area and 10 anomalous targets selected for follow up ground magnetic surveys. Four anomalies were drilled with negative results. Ground traversing located the presence of thin mafic dykes, samples of which were non anomalous for indicator minerals. It is possible that the mafic intrusives are the source of the magnetic dipole anomalism. |
