Abstract: In early 1992 Poseidon entered into the Roper River Joint Venture Agreement with Stockdale Prospecting Limited. The licence areas were originally applied for to target economic diamond deposits, however more recent exploration has targeted base metal mineralisation. This report details the exploration carried out over the tenements during their tenure life. Diamond exploration has included heavy mineral stream sediment and loam sampling, followed up by aeromagnetic surveys and consequently by RAB, RC drilling and auger drilling. Results from the diamond exploration revealed ilmenite grains and spinel grains which were found to have originated from volcanic rock. On the other hand rare singleton diamonds and indicator minerals probed as kimberlitic did not highlight dispersion trails from a kimberlitic deposit. Base metal exploration has included geochemical stream sediment sampling, soil sampling and rock chip sampling. Initial work highlighted targets which proved unprospective when followed up.
