Title: EL 2839 'Batchelor North', annual report for 12 months ending 6-06-1992

Abstract: EL 2839 is considered prospective for stratabound and/or structurally controlled gold and base metal mineralisation. During the reporting period, a programme of mapping, rock chip sampling and trenching was carried out. Exploration concentrated on identifying mineralisation associated with the Crater Formation/Coomalie Dolomite contact. The contact was mapped and rock chip sampled along both sides. The 181 samples were collected revealed that the Cu-Pb-Zn-Co-Ni anomalism is associated with the lateritised dolomite along the contact. Peak values of 860ppm Cu, 810ppm Pb, 1010ppm Zn, 270ppm Co and 340ppm Ni were coincident with zones of silicification and brecciation. Associated folding makes this a favourable location for fluid mobilisation and ore deposition. Further work is required to test the mineralisation potential of this contact zone. There are no anomalous Au, Ag or As values associated with the lateritised dolomite. One trench totalling 177m was excavated towards the eastern edge of the tenement in an attempt to locate the prospective Coomalie Dolomite/Whites Formation contact which does not outcrop in the area. No significant gold or base metal results were returned from trenching.
