Title Holder / Company: | Ashton Mining |
Report id: | CR1989-0267 |
Tenure: | EL4359 |
Year: | 1989 |
Abstract: | During the period 13th September, 1987 to 12th September, 1988, Ashton Mining Limited as Manager of the A.D.E. Joint Venture carried out an exploration program in EL 4359 aimed at the location of kimberlite pipes. Work undertaken included several lines of shallow RAB drilling in the southern sector of the licence with a view to defining further the extent of diamond-bearing sediments previously encountered in the Line W area and to determine whether any associated volcanic units were present at this locality. Three RAB lines to the north of the Line W area were also completed. Additional work involved diamond drilling of three holes (a total of 645 metres), drill core sampling and geological mapping, particularly in the southern half of the licence area. Further diamonds were recovered through laboratory processing and observation of drill spoil samples collected from the Line W area of EL 4359. The four drill spoil samples were forwarded to Ashton Mining's Perth laboratory where processing and observation of the samples failed to identify any diamonds or kimberlite indicator minerals. |
