Abstract: The 1987-1988 exploration programme for EL 4082 was part of a combined regional assessment of five exploration licerces in the south western portion of the Bynoe Joint Venture tenements. These tenements are EL's 2088, 2661, 3490, 4082 and 5096. The most significant result of the combined programme to date has been the discovery of a total of 18 new pegmatites, which have been collectively termed the Southern Pegmatite Swarm. The majority of these peginatites are within 1-300 m of Leviathan Creek and this points to a substantial alluvial reserve of tin/tantalum mineralisation downstream from these pegmatites. Alluvial trenching downstream from the Leviathan pegmalite during 1987 confirmed the presence of this mineralisation and the results suggested a continuation or this mineralisation well into EL 4082. The probable extent of this alluvial mineralisation is given is the cross section of the 1987 alluvial trenching results.
Concurrently with the work being carried out further south and the significant results obtained in that area, airphoto interpretation also indicated the presence of at least one additional exploration target to the north of the Leviathan pegmatite in EL 4082 and it is planned to examine this area in the 1988-1989 field season. If justified follow-up exploration trenching and drilling will commence.
