Abstract: | Exploration during the first year of tenure of EL4835 and EL4902 comprised mapping, outcrop sampling and drainage sampling. The major fold structures to the south of these areas, as evident on aerial photography, were shown to become complicated by smaller scale structures within the EL areas. Outcrop and large size drainage sampling has indicated that much of the area has little potential for hosting gold mineralization of economic size and grade. Three areas where results were either inconclusive or showed encouragement are recommended for further work. Mapping and sampling during 1986 has shown much of the area to have little potential for hosting a significant gold deposit, either alluvial or primary. Several areas do however, require further work: 1. The area around sample 2345 (8.06, 7.60ppm Au) requires detailed mapping and soil sampling to determine extent of mineralization. 2. The area feeding drainage sample 2395 requires further mapping, colluvium and soil sampling to define the source of the gold. 3. The anticlinal axis region in the south-east of EL 4835 requires more detailed examination as the loam choked drainage system did not allow sampling. Detailed mapping and colluvium sampling is recommended. |
