Abstract: Aardeau Mining NL holds Exploration Licence336l8 and 3619, which are located some 40 to 50 air kilometres east of Pine Creek. EL 3618 comprises 12 blocks and EL 3619 is 1 block, both after relinquishments. The Wandie area is underlain by rocks of the Burrell Creek Formation of Lower Protorozoic age. Rock types include chert, siltstone, mudstone and greywacke. The Mount Davis Granite has intruded the sediments in the northeastern section of EL 3618 with the formation of hornfels south of the granite. During 1985 the work conducted was a follow-up with some detailed pan concentrate sampling in streams; and intensive soil sampling along ridges where anomalous soil samples were obtained. Two long costeans were made across a series of quartz reefs west of Lake Wandie. A photogeological map was prepared to emphasise strike ridges and trend lines.
During the 1985 season a total of 168 samples was collected. Cumulative frequency plots were made and correlation coefficients were calculated to examine the interelement relationships. The work has confirmed several significant gold anomalies, especially a group of quartz ridges which have been found to be highly auriferous. Further detailed exploration work is planned for these highly anomalous ridges. This will include trenching and bulk sampling, and the adjacent flats between the ridges will be explored. In view of the promising results obtained, it is planned to follow up the moderately anomalous ridges, and to initiate eluvial sampling on the ridges near the anomalous stream (Area F) isolated by stream sampling.
