Abstract: | Afmeco sought to investigate uranium and gold anomalies previously reported by Nickel Mines and to test the EL for for the diamond potential. Uranium exploration used the Westmoreland uranium prospect in Queensland as an exploration model and several stratigraphic settings were investigated. Stream sediment, rock chip sampling, radon gas surveys, trenching, ground magnetic surveys, and radiometric surveys were all reported. Five inclined percussion/diamond drillholes were drilled for 811.63 m. Although the authors did not stress it, there are some highly anomalous values amongst those given the appendices. These include a stream sediment sample with 53% U by XRF and AA, several rock chips with percent levels of U3O8 and one with 4.4% U, several rock chips with >15% Cu. No significant gold was detected. |
