Annual report, EL 4082 Megabucks, Cox Peninsula to 21-06-1986

Abstract

This report is an Annual Report to the Northern Territory Department of Mines and Energy covering the activities of the Bynoe Joint Venture on Exploration Licence 4082 during the period 21st June 1985 to 21st June 1986. The Bynoe Joint Venture partners are Greenbushes Tin Ltd and Barbara Mining Corporation a subsidiary of Bayer AG of West Germany. Greenex the exploration division of Greenbushes Tin Ltd is the operator of the joint venture. The Bynoe Joint Venture is seeking to establish cassiterite and tantalite reserves in the Cox Peninsula Region of the Northern Territory. EL 4082 is part of the area under investigation. To support their exploration activities a permanent camp to accomodate up to 20 men and laboratory facilities has been established near Observation Hill. A Pilot Processing Plant to evaluate the recovery of cassiterite and tantalite from 'soft rock weathered pegmatite and alluvial deposits was constructed and became operational in June 1985. This plant has jigging, spirals and wet tabling gravity concentrating circuits.
