Abstract: | CRAE Exploration Pty Ltd (CRAE), under option agreement with Reco Mining, carried out gold exploration on the Gigantic Prospect, MCC4. CRAE carried out a detailed grid and level survey with photogrammetric mapping at 1:5000 scale to establish a base for detailed geological mapping and geophysical surveys. These surveys entailed geological mapping at 1:1000 scale; detailed ground magnetics at 5m station spacing and 50m line interval; and a detailed gravity survey on 25m centres at l00m line interval, closed up to 50m over one area of interest. An area of anomalous magnetics with coincident excess mass was delineated down-dip and down-plunge from known gold-bearing ironstone outcrop. The target was drilled out by three drill holes on one section and proved to be sub-surface magnetite/chlorite ironstone of true width 50m. No encouraging gold intersection was made. |
