Abstract: | The systematic pattern drilling in the Westmoreland area did not result in the discovery of any stratiform bodies in the sandstone sequence. The stratiform exploration concept is still considered valid but any further drilling based on this concept should be deferred until results of the proposed programme of drilling structures are obtained. Where present, the siltstone member at the top of the Unit 4 of the Westmoreland Fm probably acted as a conduit for U mineralising fluids, but it is doubtful whether this unit could host an economic orebody. The underlying sandstone may host economic concentrations in the right phyico-chemical conditions. Drilling programme based on testing structural targets is proposed. |
