Title: | 1958 Final report for AP 691 Mount Vizard lead-copper prospect |
Title Holder / Company: | BHP Minerals |
Report id: | CR1958-0006 |
Tenure: | AP691; AP630 |
Year: | 1957 |
Abstract: | Weak lead and copper mineralisation has been found in partly silicified dolostone on the western side of Mount Vizard. The highest assays from outcrops and costeans were 0.26% Pb and 0.07% Cu. A diamond drillhole which penetrated to 286 feet at a depression of 45 degrees below the anomalous outcrop intersected only very minor vein galena, sphalerite and pyrite mineralisation at 237 feet 10 inches depth. Reconnaissance over approximately 220 square miles did not reveal any other base-metal mineralisation. In the absence of any lode or bedded deposit that would warrant further investigation, it was recommended that the AP be surrendered. |
