Abstract: | The Bowgan Project is located 220 km south of Borroloola on the Barkly Tableland, and comprises three exploration licences. These tenements were explored for sediment-hosted base metal mineralisation within favourable lithologies along the Fish River Fault Zone. Exploration activities involved an open file literature study, a structural interpretation using available geophysical datasets, a PROTEM sounding survey to investigate the electrical character of the Proterozoic basement and overlying cover rocks, and limited geochemical sampling of existing drill core (5 diamond cores). Ten samples were analysed for major oxide and trace elements. The geological and geophysical interpretation of available datasets has outlined an area of interest adjacent to the Fish River Fault. PROTEM soundings indicate that the overburden has a low conductance. This will not pose any problems to the penetration capabilities of an airborne TEM system. |
