Abstract: | Placer exploration in the Tennant Creek region has concentrated on the largely untested smaller magnetic targets searching for either oxidised, primary hematite or structural and geological re-interpretation of the Tennant Creek field in order to identify other styles of mineralisation that could be structurally controlled but non ironstone hosted. Initially, aeromagnetic data was purchased and reinterpreted. A low level aeromagnetic survey was later flown over a selected area covering the licences. The aeromagnetic survey outlined one magnetic feature within the area relinquished, which was followed by a detailed ground magnetic survey. The detailed ground magnetic survey does not indicate the anomaly to be significant. The aeromagnetic interpretation in conjunction with a regional interpretation indicate that there were no major structural zones or magnetic targets within the area relinquished. |
