Abstract: | 79 RAB holes totalling 2933m were completed in the east of the licence along three lines over an area exhibiting magnetic anomalism. In the northern part of the area, a series of wet unconsolidated sand and clay was intersected below the Quaternary gravel. This material made drilling conditions difficult and holes were terminated before intersecting early Proterozoic stratigraphy. The non-magnetic bedrock lithologies intersected are dominated by mica schists, minor gneiss and quartzite. In places swarms of coarse ground quartz-muscovite pegmatite veins intrude these metasediments. Dolomite bodies source some of the magnetic anomalies. Geochemical results were generally disappointing, though minor anomalism to 7. 9ppb Au was encountered. |
